I began my career as a photojournalist during my sophomore year in college at The University of North Alabama quite by accident. After taking an "easy" course in beginning photography I applied for and got a work study job with university publications. I went on to become the sports information photographer and worked toward and recieved a BS degree in Commercial Photography. I graduated in 1980 and went to work as Chief Photographer at the Opelika-Auburn News. From there to the Montgomery Advertiser/Alabama Journal, to the Tallahasse Democrat and since 1987 a staffer at The Birmingham News. I have recieved numerous awards during my career in spot news, feature, sports and general news. I have been truly blessed to be able to work an occupation I love and enjoy. Perhaps my most challenging assignment was being embedded with the Alabama National Guard 's 877th Combat Heavy Engineer Battalion in Mosul Iraq in 2003. I still enjoy the versatility of being a photojournalist daily but also love photographing God's wonderful creation. Feel free to contact me at ychuckyeager@aol.com or 205-532-4238.
